Samsung Galaxy S5 With Full Metalic Body And Will Be Launched In 2014

Samsung is planning to replace the plastic body with Metal body in its next iteration of the Galaxy Smartphone series , the Brand New Samsung Galaxy S 5.

Galaxy S4 the newely launched Smartphone by Samsung has faced a lot of flak because of it’s plastic body design and this con has disappointed the fans of Samsung. Learning lesson from this, Samsung is planny to bring a change on its next launch of Galaxy Series by the year 2014.

As this change can be seen by the users soon only, in Galaxy S5 which will be the next grand launch by the Samsung Company in the Mobile Market. The main feature which will make this awesome product more liked by the gadgets lovers is it’s “Full Metallic Body”. To make this dream true Samsung Company has laboured out a new special unit in it’s work area at its Gumi plant in Korea, which will be capable to produce Magnesium and Aluminum casings for this awesome smartphones. Hope this news will not be just a rumor and we all will able to see the new look with grand change in Galaxy Series of Samsung phones.

Galaxy S5 with Metallic Body.

The rumors before the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4 that this smartphone will come with full metallic body and all but later in time of release it came out with plastic body. The latest rumor by the source is that the Korean site ETNews, says that the Samsung  is in the process of starting a new unit for making the metal casings for its next smartphones.

However it sounds good to hear that the Smartphone is with Metal bodies and we feel good but have with us. But Meatallic bodies too have some downsides. For the examples  iPhone 5 and the HTC One which are completely sealed units with no features for switching batteries or adding extra storage. I am not saying that it is impossible to make sets with metallic body which can open to add exrta batteries and SD cards. But now we have to wait and watch with what new features and looks Samsung is going to present itself and come in market now?

Besides these rumors we have to focus on how Samsung will be able to deliver us with metal Galaxy S5 with full features like the replaceable batteries and expandable memory options, which will makes its smartphones unique and different from the rest of the pack?

CES 2014: Samsung Smart Home aims to connect devices

Samsung stand at previous CESSamsung's CES booth will host a range of its connected home products

Samsung has announced a system to link together a household's various gadgets, appliances, and utility controls.

It said one way the Smart Home service could be used would be to turn off a home's lights and TV if the owner said "going out" into a smartwatch app.

Samsung said the service would initially be limited to its own products, but added it planned to support third parties' devices in time.

However, one expert doubted the firm's rivals would support the idea.

"Samsung is the most aggressive competitor that exists," said Martin Garner, who covers connected homes technologies for the consultancy CCS Insight.

"So, why would another manufacturer want to use its platform?"

The South Korean firm will show off the technology at its booth at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) when it opens in Las Vegas on Tuesday,

Other companies are expected to demonstrate competing visions at the event.

Archos has already said it will show off an Android-powered Smart Home Tablet designed to control and access information from other connected devices.

LG will also show off its HomeChat system, announced last year, which allows owners to control devices by sending them SMS-based text messages.

'Grand vision'

Samsung said its new service would initially offer three features:

  • Device Control: Devices including air conditioners and lights can be turned on and off via a smart device app. This can be done whether the user is at home or elsewhere, and includes support for voice commands that can also be spoken into its new TV remote controls.

  • Home View: Cameras built into TVs and other appliances can be used to provide real-time video feeds to a user's smartphone, allowing them to keep an eye on their property when out.

  • Customer Service: Appliances will notify the app if a part needs to be cleaned or replaced, for example sending an alert if a fridge light burns out or if a washing machine filter is clogged.

The firm said its Smart Home app would initially run on selected Samsung TVs, smartphones, tablets and its Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

It will work by sending messages to remote computer servers that in turn send data to Samsung's range of internet connected air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, robot vacuum cleaners, LED lights and digital cameras.

The company added that it intended to expand the platform to support healthcare products, door locks and unspecified "eco-home applications" at a later date, and would also release a software protocol to enable other device-makers to link up their machines.

However, bearing in mind doubts over whether competitors would co-operate, CCS Insight suggested the firm would struggle to realise its goal.

"Samsung have had the same connected home vision for a while, but their implementation of it was a bit ragged," said Mr Garner.

"In the past they had different apps for different appliances and they didn't all join up. It sounds like they've tidied that up quite nicely now.

"But the thing we worry about is that brand loyalty across appliance categories isn't strong - research suggests if you buy a Samsung TV you don't become more likely to buy a Samsung fridge rather than one from another manufacturer.

Rumor: Three Samsung Windows Phones coming in 2012, including the Mandel

Everyone’s excited to see two new LTE devices join the Windows Phone ranks this weekend, but once upon a time there was supposed to be a third. The rumored Samsung Mandel has been an on again-off again tale, along with fabled new offerings meant for global markets as well. None of them have coalesced into any official product, but WPDang insists that Samsung still has plans for Windows Phone in 2012.

According to the Chinese site’s sources, the home that built the Focus lineup in America has three new phones in the works to debut sometime this year. First up is the aforementioned Mandel, which sources say is still on-lock for a release in the first-half of 2012 although it most likely won’t be keeping its codename once it reaches the market. Sources also say that the device will launch with the Tango update on board, which corroborates with another rumor WPDang caught wind of last month. If the devices from each rumor are one and the same, then the Mandel should arrive in June of this year. Meanwhile the other two devices in question will launch in the second-half of 2012, likely with Windows Phone 8 (Apollo) on board.

WPDang has had an impeccable track record in the past few months so we think there’s some substance to what they’re reporting. With that said, all rumors are subject to some skepticism and judging by Samsung’s disinterest in Windows Phone as of late we wouldn’t be surprised if the Mandel never even sees the light of day. Let’s hope that’s not the case.

Would You Buy a Curved Smartphone? Samsung Experiments With New 'Galaxy Round' Phone

Would You Buy a Curved Smartphone? Samsung Experiments With New 'Galaxy Round' Phone

If the form factor on your slab-style smartphone simply isn't cutting it anymore, Samsung is betting that it has exactly what you need. The tech giant has announced the Galaxy Round -- what the company says is the first smartphone with a curved display.

Why would anyone want or need a phone with a curved display? Samsung says the 5.7-inch screen -- which gently bends inward from left to right -- "offers a comfortable hand grip feeling to [the] user."

So, it's about ergonomics. A phone with a slight curve could presumably fit more easily in a person's hand and therefore reduce the likelihood of it being dropped.

Beyond that, we're not sure what the benefits could be. When asked about it, a Samsung representative simply said this in an email: "We don't have further details."

The Round is initially being sold only in Korea for about $1,000 without a contract. The phone might not land in the U.S. for some time.

More about the phone: It runs on Samsung's version of the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system. The software that runs on the Galaxy Round makes use of its unique shape with features like the "roll effect" that briefly pops up information such as time and date, messages or missed calls when a user tilts his or her phone to one side or the other. When music is playing, a user can switch between tracks in the same way: left for the last track or right for the next one.

With the Multi Window feature, a user can have multiple apps open on the home screen, making it easier to multitask and share information between apps. The Galaxy Round can also be customized with Samsung's "one-hand operation" feature that let users position the controls they use most frequently on their preferred side of the screen.

Like other Galaxy Devices, the Round is Wi-Fi, LTE and NFC capable with BlueTooth and USB 3.0. It features the same 13-megapixel main camera and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera.

Samsung Galaxy Beam projector phone launches

The new Samsung Galaxy Beam phone includes a projector that can show films and pictures at up to 50”.

The Beam is the first mainstream phone to directly incorporate projector technology, which has become increasingly common on top-of-the range compact digital cameras cameras.

Photos and videos can be viewed on any flat service, and Samsung claims the 15-lumens projector is even useful outdoors.

So-called pico projectors have long been slightly too big to incorporate into mobile phones. At 12.5mm thick the Beam is slightly larger than other models, which are sometimes under 8mm, but well within the range existing phone consumers routinely purchase.

It features a 5MP camera, and runs Google’s Android 2.3 software on a 1.0GHz dual-core processor. The projector is run through a dedicated application, and the phone features a large 2000mAh to cope with some of the extra demand.

The Beam announcement was one of the first to be made at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, where the largest phone companies demonstrate their forthcoming products. Samsung has already announced that its widely anticipated follow-up to the popular Galaxy SII smartphone will, however, be announced at a separate even later in the year.

The company also announced improvements to its range of Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computers, which will be available in the UK from March. A 10.1" updated version will join the currently offered 7" model. Apple, who currently dominates the tablet market, is rumoured to be considering a 7” version of its popular iPad.

What's happened to my Samsung Galaxy S3?

Rick Maybury is on hand to offer advice to a reader frustrated with their non-starting phone

Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung Galaxy S3

My Galaxy S3 has suddenly stopped working; a few hours earlier I was able to send and receive text messages. It will not charge (although the battery was at 50 per cent before it happened); I removed the battery and put it back in again. I connected it to my computer but there is still no sign of life. Have you any ideas?

David Sample, by email

In spite of that 50 per cent charge reading, a flat or faulty battery is the prime suspect. If you do not have a replacement to hand, plug the phone into known working mains or car charger (not your PC) for half an hour and try again. If it still refuses to boot up remove the battery but do not replace it for at least 15 minutes. While you are waiting press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and this will remove any residual charge held by components inside the phone. If, when the battery is replaced, it is still lifeless try a Safe Mode restart by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds or until the Samsung logo appears, at which point release the power button then quickly press and hold the volume-down button. With luck it will continue to boot into Safe Mode. When the Home screen appears go to Settings > Applications and remove the most recently installed apps, as one of these may be causing the fault. If the phone will not start in Safe Mode the last DIY option is to try and boot into Recovery Mode and wipe the phone’s cache memory; do not worry, this will not erase any personal data or files. Press and hold the Home, volume-up and power buttons. After a few seconds it should vibrate and when the Samsung logo appears on the screen release the power button, but keep pressing the Home and volume-up buttons until the Android Recovery menu appears. Use the volume up/down buttons to select Wipe Cache Partition and press the Power button to confirm. If successful this will take a few minutes, select reboot now and see if that works. If not it is time to seek expert assistance.
